These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Slow Transport Journeys services. By booking with us, you agree to these Terms.

2. Services Provided

We provide travel planning and booking services for European railway journeys, including:

• Custom itinerary design
• Train ticket booking and reservations
• Accommodation arrangements
• Route documentation and guides
• 24/7 traveler support during journeys

3. Booking and Payment

3.1 Booking Process: Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of deposit and written confirmation from us.

3.2 Payment Schedule:

• 30% deposit due upon booking confirmation
• 70% balance due 60 days before departure
• Bookings made within 60 days of departure require full payment immediately

3.3 Payment Methods: We accept bank transfers, credit cards, and other methods as specified during booking.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

See our detailed Cancellation Policy. Summary:

• 60+ days before departure: Full refund minus 15% administrative fee
• 30-59 days: 50% refund
• Less than 30 days: Refunds depend on what we can recover from suppliers

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

5. Travel Documents and Requirements

5.1 Your Responsibilities:

• Valid passport for international travel
• Necessary visas (we provide guidance but obtaining visas is your responsibility)
• Travel insurance (strongly recommended)
• Health requirements and vaccinations as needed

5.2 Our Responsibilities: We provide all booked train tickets, accommodation confirmations, and travel documentation.

6. Changes and Modifications

6.1 Changes by You: Modifications to confirmed bookings may incur fees from suppliers and a €50 administrative fee from us.

6.2 Changes by Us: We may modify itineraries due to circumstances beyond our control (strikes, weather, schedule changes). We'll provide alternatives and refund any price difference if the alternative is inferior.

7. Liability and Responsibilities

7.1 Our Liability: We act as booking agent for railways, hotels, and other suppliers. Our liability is limited to proper booking of services as specified. We are not liable for:

• Services provided by third parties (train delays, hotel standards, etc.)
• Personal injury, illness, or loss not caused by our negligence
• Force majeure events (strikes, natural disasters, pandemic, war, etc.)

7.2 Maximum Liability: Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for your booking.

7.3 Your Responsibilities: You are responsible for your personal conduct, compliance with laws, and care of personal property during travel.

8. Force Majeure

We are not liable for failure to perform obligations due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, strikes, pandemics, or government actions. In such cases, we'll work to provide alternatives but cannot guarantee refunds.

9. Complaints and Disputes

9.1 Complaints: Report issues during your journey to our 24/7 support immediately. Post-journey complaints must be submitted in writing within 30 days.

9.2 Dispute Resolution: We'll attempt to resolve disputes amicably. If unsuccessful, disputes are subject to Swiss law and jurisdiction of Zürich courts.

10. Data Protection

Your personal data is processed according to our Privacy Policy and Swiss/EU data protection regulations.

11. Intellectual Property

All website content, including text, images, route designs, and documentation, is owned by Slow Transport Journeys and protected by copyright. Unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.

12. Website Use

You agree to:

• Use the website for lawful purposes only
• Not attempt to damage, disable, or impair the website
• Not use automated systems to access the website without permission
• Respect intellectual property rights

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms. Material changes will be communicated to active bookings.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zürich, Switzerland.
